Now, who in his/her right mind would actually pay for this? (And just look at the price!)

There's a huge aftermarket for virtual content within MMO's, developers are setting up shops themselves some times.
I know a guy who sold his world of warcraft account with like 1 character on it, for close to 1000 dollars. He didn't have any trouble finding a buyer either.
It would have taken someone a very long time to acquire the crap his character had. (a shitload of gold, very rare mounts, full sets of top tier Raid Gear & latest seasonal PvP gear.) The way these games are designed, by nature cuts out the casual player & forces them into the grind of getting endgame.
As far as wow gos, nobody wants to be leveling. The real game is Raid/PvP content where 90% of the people are. Those who even play at a lower level usually have to contend with the fact that their peers are 'Alt' characters, and if they get fucked around with, they DB their endgame character to come slaughter you.
Yeah, but if you just started, you'll want to level good before PVP/Raid. This gives me something to look forward to when I get my Rogue, warlock, or mage to 80.
If you just started, you already missed out on how unique the game was before it 'evolved naturally' into an elitist driven bitch-fest.
Most people who level, skip content entirely in a race to 80. The point of the game is to sink time on the quest grind, and go through progressively 'nerfed' low level content.
If your new, you're at a disadvantage of having 'nobody' sticking around for low level content because it's not worth coming back to.
The contrasting issue that sucks even more, is that this drives "scrub players" into high levels without knowing how to play their character properly. They get endgame, and have no guild willing to accept them because they "can't do their job properly" so they PUG their way into fail-fucking smaller guilds, creating mutual tension and bad experiences all around.
It's even more brutal having a level 80 fully geared Paladin spamming the stupidest basic questions because they were bought on ebay. "WHERE DO I BUY SILK CLOTH???"![]()
The same can also be said of Diablo 2, where the game itself was broken in balance, and evolved into a marketplace meta-game on Battlenet, MMO's by nature have more at stake & 'cost/make' more money in their endeavor to 'break' themselves on the consumers.
I love MMOs, but I'm well aware at how stupid the genre's model is, and how quickly a new game implodes on itself.
I'm still able to appreciate WoW as long as I can ignore the elitists. I usually play a game for either content or just violence, and I'm able to appreciate games like WoW for the content instead of just trolling it for being popular or being an elitist bitch who stomps on noobs. Since the release of Doom's source code, Doom has been the best of both worlds for me.
The way I see it, an MMO is like browsing EncyclopediaDramatica. In the same manner you'll want to dodge cocks and goatses to enjoy ED, you'll want to ignore guilds/clans/elitist crap to appreciate an MMO.

Anyone Runescaping lately?
I've been frequenting it lately. It's still fun.
Hit me up if you're in it for some Daemonheim dungeoneering or something. Let me know.
Use to play it back in the day, now I just call it ruinscape. Just can not get back into it after playing bigger and better MMORPGs.
Are any of these MMORPGs of which you guys speak FREE?
Yes sir, as stated above DCU is f2p (it has PC and PS3 clients), I do believe that star wars TOR is f2p now, there is also a few discontinued MMORPGs that are still up unofficially (some are f2p and some are not, a example is star wars galaxies, a group of SWG fans run a site known as SWGEMU is building compatible servers from scratch and is f2p).
I'll check it out, thanks.
Well, at any rate. Runescape is the topic. Anyone interested in dungeoneering one of these days, hit me up.
