I don't know any cheap screens with a controller that takes regular TV timings over composhit/s-video/RGB that one could fit into a Nomad...

I've done some basic hardware repairs and even made My own AV cable for My model 1, but display technology is WAY beyond Me.
Oh well![]()

Screen including shipping for $50
Looks pretty awesome too, if the photos of the original screen gives it justice. Big difference on the pics atleast.
You'll even gain some batterytime![]()
That is awesome, in my budget, and my soldering skill level. I would imagine composite is good enough for a 3.5 inch screen.
I'm not sure how I feel about tearing apart my Nomad, as it's not the cheapest thing to come by. But after playing the DS, it's impossible to go back and play on the awful screen.

I would look littlebit further and screen that accepts rgb. Does Nomad output rgb so would screen RGB mod be possible?
Nomad LCD controller runs off analog RGB... the LCD that people have been using accepts composhit only, and the LCD also assumes interlaced input so when things move there's some slight distortions seen aswell as composhit artifacts. Good thing is the screen works in both 50 and 60Hz but since it uses composhit one has to take color subcarrier issues into account.
I do perform those screen replacements aswell as other kinds of mods for the Nomad.

Is that replacement worth it? Or is it better to wait and see if there is a screen that can accept RGB?

Didn't you mention that running in 50 Hz greatly reduces the motion blur? (but there were some other issues mentioned iirc)
For most NTSC games they'd play slow and have slot music (I think a few might be programmed to work at similar speeds at either refresh rates, or at least the music), but any optimized PAL games would be fine for that speed. (do PAL Nomads also run in 60 Hz stock?)
50Hz does wonders with Nomad stock screen, but the contrast issue still remains. as seen on the images above, you get fanstastic contrast.. only down side is the composhit artifacts.
