I have an FZ-1 and it works great. But I wouldn't recommend it to someone who "just wants a 3DO" as the FZ-10 is surely more common and therefor easier to find and less expensive. Also I can only guess they are less likely to be found in non-working condition as it's both simpler in design and lower in age. Just like the Sega-CD in that regard.

I like having the original with the motorized door but just like the Sega-CD sure I prefer the model 1 but my model 1 doesn't work while my model 2 does!! It's easier to find model 2's also as more are out there and once again they aren't as old.

But as for CD-R's its more picky than the Sega-CD. Well at least my FZ-1 compared to my model 2 anyway. I can burn on my cheapo Fijifilm CD's and they play on the Sega-CD but not on the FZ-1. I can usually get the game to load up but it doesn't make it past the first few screens. To get games that work on the FZ-1 I have to use my good Philips (Taiyo Yuden IIRC) CD-R's!

But isn't Super Wing Commander the only release with the "Secret Missions 1.5" levels that bridge between the original game and the add-on? Although, on the other hand, you can't play Secret Missions 2...

Anyway, I'd also recommend Syndicate. The 3DO version is similar to the proper computer game, unlike the masquerade that was released for Genesis and SNES. You may be hindered by a lack of mouse, though. Or was there a 3DO mouse?

Return Fire is pretty fun, and although there was a PSX version, only 3DO had the "Maps O' Death" expansion disc. Crash N' Burn is also nice, except for the poor framerate.

Looking at completed abay listings, the FZ-1 seems most common, followed by FZ-10, but the FZ-1 also seems to sell for less on average. Not really sure, but the FZ-10 also apears to be a bit more reliable. (both due to the top loading mechanism, and also seems like they thend to use more tolerant CD drives -reeds discs better, but that latter bit may just be coincidental)

There is a mouse, but it looks like the 3DO version of Syndicate doesn't support it (Lemmings and Policenauts do, though.).

Well that's lame. My CD32 copy of Syndicate supports the mouse just fine. Maybe you should get a CD32 instead of a 3DO.

Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. It's really smoothly animated and doesn't use excessive photo filters and has a really good plot.

That right there is why I don't shop on Abay.... I go for the more lower standards.... sometimes dbay.... but most of the time....

Both my 3DO's were a novelty that very quickly wore off, one is in it's box somewhere in the attic and the other is in the games room with half an inch of dust on it.

I always had a bit of interest of obtaining a 3DO, being one of the first 3D capable game consoles and all.

    3DO!

    Here's my favorite 3DO games:
    Sailor Moon
Onee-san to issho janken paradise (strip-paper-rock-scissors)
    Lucienne's Quest.

As far as which one is better for CD-Rs, I can't really say. I have the FZ-1 and it works fine for all my burning needs. I've little experience with the other models, but the FZ-1 works fine for me.

The Yu yu Hakusho game on 3DO is pretty good. ONly problem is the sprite size on Bui.
