Default Are the PS2 slims really clocked higher than the Phats?

Eh, want to buy another PS2 slim for the living room considerong the PS3 still isn't compatible with PS2 games. Already have the phat in my room but whatever.

What i am curious, is that some sources say the PS2 slim is clocked at 299Mhz and the original is 294Mhz, may not be a big difference, but i'm wondering if it really is true? Is the slim really clocked 5Mhz higher?

Probably just the availability of the parts at the time.

For making the DVD video playback play 105% faster than it should *grumble*. It honestly looks like a Benny Hill scene when I watch a DVD on my slim ps2

It probably saves two cents per unit on manufacturing costs.

So Slims weren't corrected for 50 Hz PAL DVD playback, but fat models were?
6 days older than SEGA Genesis
