    Sonic discussion...

K first and foremost I post from a phone usually, so if my posts are shyte I apologise.

Second, up until about 2004 I would consider myself a hardcore console gamer from 90 til then. Only reason I went on the computer to look games videogame anything online was cuz I was apart of a clan for q3a on dc. Loved that shit. R.I.p. ruthless souls *RS. I have pictures of me in countless sega shirts, in front of tv screens growing up playing sonic. So there's my sega dedication. I can post em given time. So ya I'm a sega fanboy. My only complaints with sega is their advertising, and the fact there's not a us version( or english version) of rent a hero no.1 on genesis or dreamcast, and black and white was never released on dc. Now as for calling myself hardcore, is I'm still willing to beat id beat anyones ass on q3a dc. Also, coming in colorado not really every going to online communties I just was hardcore that I got into what was available to me. Never really herd about the saturn, SMS, jaguar, or even knew neo geo had a home console. Just thought neo geo was arcade and gameboy competitor, since I had 1 at one point.

Never got into computers or comp gaming.. and it shows.

Now given this is a sega forum, I don't get why I read some people say sega sucks, but still claim to like the genesis...? Or SMS or anything. And who the fuck is the guy y'all hate that you kinda blame for segas failure? Banned games whatever? Never herd of him. Now I could probably look and look on google for some of the answers but I just don't feel like going to google since I'm at a sega forum. I love genesis, and dreamcast. But since their dead and kinda limited my next love is ps3, although that took a year, sega love affair seemed more over night for me.

I bash Sega for running their business into the ground sure but no one here has bashed the Genesis.

I think he wants to know why people here love Sega, but not every single thing they do?

    Yes?
    No?

    A point well missed.

I certainly hope the original post doesn't turn out to be an introspective thesis on the essence of being a 'SEGA Fan', or the seed of one.

    Sega is dead.

Only very few 'creative geniuses' are still around from when they were in the hardware business, and they're in 'retirement' so to speak. So yeah, what's to love?

I'm not happy with what they do NOW. I don't want them to fail as long as they keep publishing the Total War series. I'll just speak for myself.

"So and so banning shit" = Bernie Stolar.

He banned Japanese content from reaching american shores during the early playstation era, and then with the Saturn after sega hired him. (RPG fanboys cried for bloodshed.) He personally fucked up any 'ease of transition' in America with the Saturn software winding down & gets most of the blame for Sega of Japan's stupid decisions at that time. "The saturn is not our future" Translation: "Fuck you developers, we're dropping out of the good fight you're invested in with no warning."

He made the Dreamcast launch awesome, and then they got rid of him.

I don't disagree about sega being 'dead', just saying your posting here for SOME reason, about sega. I guess I just don't get the animosity if they did a few things right. You could honestly nitIpick any company, just wtf is the deal I guess? First 4 letters are sega on this forum.

Sounds like he's thinking of Bernie Stolar with the "banning games" thing, I assume the "anti RPG" issue. Anyway, not everone agrees on that issue either... Well except perhaps that publicly stating "Saturn is not our future" was stupid... Other issues are arguable. (some even blame Kalinke... -SoA's president during most of the Genesis years)

Now as to the discontent of "Sega" now, that's for a number of reasons including their recent Sonic games, loss in talent, restructuring and such. Some still hold hope for another Sega brand home console even, I for one (not even an exclusive Sega fan) think there's a remote possibility of that, but very unlikely.

What I can say is that the current Sega-Sammy at least exissts, with a small amout of "old" Sega intacks (and difused through it), unlike Atari for instance, which is only a name now (bought and sold a couple times, now with Infogrames). Maybe the current Sega is more comperable to the previous Atari Corp. or Atari Games... (those formed after A Inc was broken up in 1984)
6 days older than SEGA Genesis

Discussions do become very heated at times. There is a lot of hindsight especially when it comes to the post Genesis days. Names like Kalinske and Stolar will always bring up passionate "what if" type discussions.

    Edit: Damn this thing exploded.
