    Yuck Enix and their games...

I was saying in the Squaresoft thread that Enix is one company that alot of people, moreso in the west, care nothing for, with good reason. I guess Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest has a bit of nostalgia to japanese gamers which explains the obsession, but IMHO is a horrendous series, though some were better than others. Illusion of Gaia was indeed VERY boring, but less so then 7th Saga which was both ugly and dull at the same time. I think the only ones I can think of that I enjoyed by them were Robotrek (Slapstick in Japan) which was actually developed by Quintet, and that EVO: The Search for Eden. Also, the Actraiser series is said to be good, but I haven't had a chance to play much of it, or the Soul Blazer series which is supposed to be enjoyable (Terranigma gets alot of praise).

I thought Illusion of Gaia was fun gameplay-wise, and there's a game that I was really into that perhaps others on this site loved...

Star Ocean: The Second Story for PSX.

This game had a lot of customizable options as far as choice of party members, character interaction, advancement of plot (in context to the ending), and item customization.

As for other Enix titles, I thought Dragon Warrior wasn't a bad series, but I wasn't into it like I was the Lunar and Grandia series. Just my humble opinion of course.

Otherwise, I can't think of anything else Enix made that made an impression on me.

Soul Blazer is great. Star Ocean 2 is amazing. Terranigma is fucking excellent. I don't really have much of a problem with Enix.

I forgot they made Soul Blazer, that game wasn't too bad, especially since you got to improve the conditions of the main envionment you started in.

Now that I think about it, Actraiser wasn't too bad either.

Aside from Robotrek, Quintet developed both ActRaiser games, as well as Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma. I dug Robotrek and ActRaiser, but the latter three were dull IMO. Aside from Quintet's games, I did enjoy Bust A Groove and Ninpen Manmaru. I did not like any of the Dragon Warrior/Quest games, Dragon Warrior Monsters, Star Ocean (yawn), Brain Lord, King Arthur, Wonder Project, Torneko, or Valkyrie Profile (I know I'm probably in the minority on this last one). Enix also had a shitload of Japan-only games, and we're probably not missing anything.

You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.

I don't think anyone claimed that. Milkymagic just said that the Dragon Warriors never clicked with him the way the Lunars did.

I dunno, I kinda like Illusion of Gaia(thanks again for that one, 5233.)
As for Actraiser, I love those games. Actraiser 2 is the only CIB SNES game I have. It's damn tough later in the game though.

I may have seemed a bit harsh in the OP, but lately I can at least appreciate the fact that Enix attempted to distinguish themselves between their then-rivals Squaresoft. Sure, they have some considerably weaker titles like 7th Saga, but there's some gems among the rather dull games. Yes, I still like Robotrek and EVO, but I also think I am enjoying the GBC Dragon Warrior remakes (1~3) more than the NES ones (learning to appreciate the more simple RPGs is a recent development for me). Of course I'm open minded and can see that they had a unique approach to some of their games. I'll probably see if I can get into ActRaiser. Illusion of Gaia wasn't actually as bad as I initially claimed but not one of my favorites. Though reading the story of Terranigma on wiki has sparked my interest in playing the game somewhat. Not sure about SoulBlazer though.

I think they blew it by moving their games to phones instead of VC. Now there is absolutely no chance in hell of anything ever getting an international release.

Dragon Quest games? Simple, but fun. Get's better as you go along through the series, though VII is a bitch to get through (it's fucking HUGE). VIII was very good.

Actraiser games? Great games. II is hard as a rock, but it's still fun.

7th Saga? I liked it. You need to grind for a while to make sure you don't get your ass handed to you at the time shift spot, but I had no issues with that (16-bit RPGs and grinding pretty much went hand in hand).

    Soul Blazer? Very nice game.

Granted, that's only a handful of the games they've made over the years, but...

The only games from Enix that I played are the following:

-Illusion of Gaia (aka Illusion of Time): my god, the ONLY action RPG for the SNES that I give a shit about (Zelda: A Link to the Past? Secret of Mana? Bleh). Excellent game, and Nintendo Europe's Spanish-translated version is very good
-ActRaiser 1 and 2: haven't played them in a very long time, but they were pretty decent from what I remember
-The 7th Saga: good RPG with different character classes (Alien character class FTW), but there's a little problem: there's basically NO FUCKING WAY to avoid the enemies!
