Some idiot at a fleamarket was selling SMB-1 for $25. Guess what... Tetris 2, the one that sucked, was $70. She said that I didn't know what I'm talking about when I said those prices were BS. Every NES game is $15 or more. So I don't shop there unless I see something that is an extremely good deal. Like NiGHTs for $5.

I really don't know why this is the case for the Genesis.........its been like this ever since the system died. Back in the late '90's I couldn't give away a Genesis or Sega CD for free. Hell, I got a mint, damn near brand-new Sega CD 2 from Funcoland for $10 back in the Spring of 1998.

I'm thinking that either Sega overproduced Genesis consoles (which I doubt, as supposedly there were shortages of new Gennys late in its life, when SoJ canned the Genesis in Fall of 1995), or that a lot of people traded them in during the early part of the 32-Bit era (where stores such as FuncoLand offered discounts towards 32-Bit consoles if one would trade in an 8/16-Bit console with a certain amount of games). For some reason more people just held on to their SNES's and its games.

The Genesis had a less varied selection of third-party software than the SNES, so not many of its games are expensive.

Saturns are also common, but to a lesser extent. Lots of people sold them off when it got canned. The games on the other hand, especially the good ones, are trickier and pricier to get your hands on. Same story goes for Dreamcast

Bullshit. I can get good DC games for a pittance and easily...locally and online. good Saturn on the other hand, (especially non-sports games) is tough, if not impossible sometimes.

Consoles on the other hand... Saturn consoles can catch a pretty penny, with or without games. Dreamcast consoles are starting to go up in price a little bit, but overall really cheap. I got a DC system last year with a few accessories and some shit disc only games that where worth more than the console even for like $40.
The smell of scorched oil hangs in the air as a premonition of danger, while the engine gloriously shouts its war cry...

Throughout history, suspicion has always bred conflict. The real conflict, though, resides in people's hearts. This conflict has just begun.

I'm glad I got my Saturn for $20.

Even more happy that I got "Guardian Heroes" for $18.

Ive always found it kinda odd how anything Sega oriented is dirt cheap compared to the Nintendo and Sony stuff. Hell, one movie store i usually frequent started carrying old video games a while back, but it was only Sony & Nintendo games. they had Dreamcast games at one point, but eventually stopped carrying them.

This strangely might be a good thing for me, more cheap genesis games to snatch up!

Sega had to try like crazy to compete with Nintendo back in the day. When they weren't reminding people why they were awesome old habits came back..

I can't remember how much I paid for alot of my SNES stuff but when I had start buying a few SNES carts from ebay the prices weren't that bad. I got a CIB Zelda for under 30 dollars and a cart only SMW+MA for under 20 dollars I think. Hell I bought a Majesco Super Castlevania 4 for under 20 dollars brand new.

I meant the prices beyond the "SEALED SMW $3,000!" shit.

I can't understand how a dirt common game like "Super Mario World" can get prices that creep into "low print run" territory.

Me: I would like to buy that Dr. Mario game.
    Casheer: That will be $30.
Me: But I want the one that's $10...
Casheer: Sorry, forgot to remove the sticker. Still $30.
Me: Alright, no thanks. I'll just buy a $5 Sega CD game.
That same store closed a week later.

3 Grand for a sealed Final Fantasy III, with that much money you could buy a couple hundred Genesis systems!
