They're always in the RF modulator, nowhere else, all the modulators should be same/similiar across different models.

I can also confirm that I have one broken model 1, and under heatsink cover there is only mobo of modulator which is solded from 4 spots to heacover, and also 3 long pins solded outside to main mobo.

Is there coils under the modulator mobo? Or does these models adjust fregency from some other place?

i wish i could but right now i dont have a camera or a cell phone with camera inside, but i had to desolder the mobo, and inside there are 2 screws one orange with numbers in it and one black...thats all and by the way i had to screw up one rf modulator of one console here to see because the rf input its solded to the mobo and to the little box that is also solded to the megadrive mother board. the little box is open to reach to the screws, but its upside down the little box, so we dont see the holes that permit to reach the screws! sorry my english but i think you can understand

Yeah while looking my same mobo, I discovered also that the rf modulator is solded to mobo, and was thinking is it only soldered because then rf modultor sits firmly on the mobo. Do you need to desolder also those to open the modulator mobo?

I would believe that once you get that up side down mobo to bend 90 degrees with the 3 long pins standing outside of the modulator, then you are able to adjust the coils. I would believe that the orange is audio. In anycase, you need to adjust the screws while sega is ON to see the changes. Bit tricky but probaly doable. In case that RF body solders on MD mobo carry something electric to MD mobo you will need to solder some wires also to there, when the RF modulator is bend 90 degrees.

But, are you sure you did broke your modulator? As you can solder it again. Or did you broke coils?

Edit: there is way to to screw those with tester also. Tester should give you some readings with correspond to PAL I Standart. Then you adjust it until level is PAL-G standard.
