The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.
- Hayao Nakayama, Mega Drive Collected Works (p. 17)
The game is now for sale at €11:
In order to celebrate the long awaited release of R4 on WiiWare publisher redspotgames dropped the price of the Dreamcast version by 50% - along with some other merchandise like t-shirts.
The Dreamcast version for sale is the Deluxe Edition with alternate box art. It also comes with a nice poster for the WiiWare release which is sold seperately for about 5 Euros.
"Grab those as long as you can! Don’t forget that these items will be back to the normal price after Saturday, 21st April 2012. Only lasts as long as there is still a quantity available."
