What are you talking about?!? Europe, like most of the world, absolutely love football. Here in the UK almost every kid plays football in the playground or over the park so yes, all of us at some point have played it.

Personally, I don't care for soccer but, we don't go into the soccer threads and say "american football pwnz euro football!!!"
Oh, you meant American Football! Do you think that maybe it's because any non-American or non-Canadian thinks of a sport that involves kicking a round ball with their feet whenever someone mentions football? The title of the thread asked for the top five football games so I responded with my favourite footy games.

Also, to be fair, I haven't seen a single person in this thread slating American Football as a sport -- we were just saying the truth, and that is that it has little popularity over here. In fact, the only person doing any hating here said that NFL is the smart man's rugby. I could reply by saying that NFL is like rugby for girls...

lets not start arguing about which is the tougher sport. american football is lethaly dangerous. there have been alot of in game deaths and paralysis' through out the history. there is a reason rugby players dont wear pads, its because they're all a bunch of semi athletic, averaged sized, white guys. here in america most of the black athletes are very big, strong, and athletic unfortunately due to selective breeding during the 400 years or so of slavery that there ancestors had to endure. even the smallest players in the nfl(which is usually the qb) are around 6'4 220 lbs. which is probobly the average size of ALL of the rugby players in whatever league they have. and soccer to me is something for american women to play since they cant handle full contact football. but to each his own.

and as for hand egg, during the early 1900's when the sport was in its infancy the rules were alot different and the feet were used alot more(dropkicks etc..). but as the years rolled on and more and more people began to watch, the officails slowly but surely changed the rules to make the game more exciting to watch so the kicking game gradually got scaled back to what it is today.

soccer is boring to watch for sure, however i have a tremendous amount of respect for any athlete whatever the sport may be.

american football was adapted from rugby and soccer(football) in order to make something that was more fun to watch. SUCCESS!!!

i forgot about all of the european megadrivers out there on these forums, and you guys let me know about it by being smart asses, no problem its all fun.
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

I think we can all agree that hockey is the best sport on the Genesis.

Only two out of the 195 countries in the world find watching NFL more fun than football though. Doesn't that suggest something?

The name soccer is universally understood and would avoid some confusion if Euros accepted it and besides I see soccer players use their heads just as much or maybe more to score. Also FYI rugby originally emphasized the kicking part of the game because crossing the goal line allowed them to "try" and kick the ball between the posts.

I did try that John Madden Football game once but it wasn't really a football game at all; it was more like rugby, except that the players wore crash helmets and they could throw the ball forwards.
As soon as I read football, I though about doin' this!
